well at my church we have what is called a "trunk or treat" members of the church come to the parking lot and decorate their cars and pass out candy. The kids dress up and "trunk or treat". It’s a safe alternative to trick or treating, and it’s held outside of the church so as not to be disrespectful. But if you want to shy away from anything halloween, you can do mini pumpkin painting. The kids can paint those little pumpkins with craft paint- you can play your traditional games like donut on string and things (have to eat the donut with hands behind there back) -you can have the decorate fall shaped sugar cookies- you can have them carve pumpkins and bring them to be judged- just have them not be halloween themes. -have someone dress up as a scarecrow and take pictures with the kids on a barrel of hay. Take the kids for rides in a radio flyer- or if you can arrange for pony rides or something like that!
all hollowed eve is a christian observance not haloween so go to church and pray for all the poor fighting men and women defending our country.
Have you ever heard of "Trunk or Treat"? Look it up on a Google .They do it at churches around here ,rather than going door to door
buy popping corn straight from the farm and have a "husking bee" (the corn should be on the ears and in the husks);
set up a simple patchwork quilt on a quilting frame and have the kids embroider (or fabric paint) something on each square … give the quilt to the local nursing home or raffle it off for a fundraiser.
ask each family to donate a staple ingredient (such as canned goods) for one of their favorite holiday foods and bring the recipe. Put the older kids to work assembling the recipes in some sort of order to later produce a church cookbook that could accompany your foodbaskets this year
if you can do outdoors things, have a good old bonfire marshmallow roast
we have baked cookies and then let the kids decorate them in blacks yellows, and oranges. Then we have stick horse races which we made the stick horses. you could have a bust the pinata, buy some of the really small pumpkins and let the kids draw faces on them with paints. you could create a game called HAPPY HALLOWEEN and have the kids come up with as many words as they can using the letters found in the two words. Let the kids dress up and have age group rewards for best costume. Finish the evening off with a sandwich and soup or chili supper with the parents followed by Trunk or Treat which is where the adults decorate the trunks/beds of the cars or trucks they drive and pass out candy. Very safe way for your child to get candy because you know everyone handing it out and the kids love to see how the adults deck their cars out.
